Ask Naima & Omar
What can I do with Essaouira Immersion?

Essaouira Immersion offers seven guided nature and cultural experiences around Essaouira, Morocco: two Sidi Mbarek coastal walks, Ain Lahjar Oasis & Argan Tradition, the Ida Ogourd, Tidzi and Had Draa rural markets, and a Rural Souk & Amazigh Cooking Class. Outings last a half-day or a full day.

What is at the heart of an Essaouira Immersion experience?

Authenticity and sharing time with local people are central to our outings. Depending on the experience you choose, this can mean conversations at a rural souk, tea or a meal with a family, discovering local crafts or cooking alongside your hosts. Naima helps you connect with the people and everyday traditions of the region.

Who will guide my experience?

Naima, your local guide, is from Essaouira and is part of the local community. She has been guiding visitors in the region for over eight years. Omar helps design your excursion with you and prepares the route and practical arrangements with Naima. The experiences connect visitors with local people, families and cooperatives around Essaouira.

Which languages are the experiences guided in?

Naima guides our experiences in French and English. Let us know your preferred guiding language when you enquire.

Can the route be adapted to my fitness level?

We can adjust routes and walking pace to suit your fitness level and walking experience. Tell us what you feel comfortable with when you enquire, so we can confirm suitable adjustments for your chosen outing.

How large are the groups?

We favour small groups of up to 12 people to keep each outing friendly and personal. Larger groups are also welcome on request: tell us your group size and needs so we can discuss the arrangements together.

How does Omar help plan my experience?

Omar helps design your excursion with you. He listens to what you’d like to discover, your walking experience and the pace that suits your group, then works with Naima to shape the route and plan your day. His background in customer service and excursion organisation informs a practical, personal approach: answering your questions, explaining the options and preparing the details together before you arrive.

What are the age groups for pricing?

Children aged 0–3 join free of charge. Ages 4–11 pay the child fare shown for their experience, and the adult fare applies from age 12. Please include children aged 0–3 when booking, even when they travel free, so we can plan the outing and transport capacity.

Where can I find direct-booking prices?

Adult fares (ages 12+) and child fares (ages 4–11) are displayed on each experience page and in this comparison. The cooking class without the market is listed as an option. Prices are in Moroccan dirhams (MAD), for direct bookings. For larger groups or an adapted programme, contact us for a personalised quote.

How do I arrange an experience?

Choose an experience and contact us by WhatsApp or email. Tell us your preferred day, the number of people joining and where you are staying. We confirm availability, the price and meeting arrangements directly with you.

Can I book or pay on this website?

This is a showcase website. There is no online checkout or availability calendar. An enquiry is not a confirmed booking; please contact Omar and Naima to arrange your experience.

When do the rural markets take place?

Ida Ogourd is on Wednesdays, Tidzi on Thursdays and Had Draa on Sundays. Market arrangements can occasionally change, so we confirm the details with you before the visit.

Which Sidi Mbarek walk should I choose?

The Sidi Mbarek Coastal Walk is a half-day outing of around 5 km, with tea with a local family or by the beach. The Coastal Dune Hike is a full-day, moderate walk of approximately 10–14 km, with lunch hosted by an Amazigh family. Both include sand and uneven ground.

Will there be water at Sidi Mbarek?

The waterfall is seasonal and is often dry from May to October. Flowing water is not guaranteed. The Sidi Mbarek experiences also explore dunes and Atlantic coastal landscapes.

Where do we meet?

Our usual meeting point is Tour Moulay M’Hamed, by Bab Chbanate in Essaouira. Tell us where you are staying so we can confirm the arrangements for your experience.

Is transport included?

Return transport from our meeting point at Tour Moulay M’Hamed, by Bab Chbanate in Essaouira, is included in all seven experiences.

Are meals and tea breaks included?

The meals and tea breaks listed in each experience’s programme are included in the price. What is provided depends on the outing you choose; see its programme for the details.

What time do experiences start?

Departures are usually at 9:00 in the warmer season and 9:30 in the cooler season. We confirm your exact departure time when arranging your experience.

What is included in the cooking experience?

The full-day Rural Souk & Amazigh Cooking Class combines shopping for ingredients at a rural souk with cooking on a farm. Activities include roasted barley and a traditional mill, bread baked in an earthen oven, couscous and a goat or vegetable tagine. The market and the day’s arrangements are confirmed in advance.

Can I tell you about dietary or walking requirements?

Yes. Tell us about dietary requirements, allergies and any walking concerns when enquiring, so we can discuss the experience with you. Vegetarian options are available for the Tidzi family lunch and the cooking class. Please discuss any specific requirement before confirming your visit.

Can I book an excursion for one person?

For a new departure at the standard per-person fares, the minimum is two adults, or one adult accompanied by a child aged 4–11. A solo traveller can confirm a new departure by paying the two-adult fare. If you join a group that is already confirmed, the standard adult fare applies, subject to availability.

Can one adult and one child confirm a departure?

Yes. One adult accompanied by a child aged 4–11 can confirm a new departure. The displayed adult fare and child fare apply.

When is my booking confirmed?

Your booking is confirmed once we have received the requested deposit and sent you written confirmation by WhatsApp or email.

How do the deposit and balance work?

For direct bookings, we request a deposit of up to 30% of the total booking amount. The deposit must be paid via PayPal or bank transfer. The exact deposit amount and payment instructions are provided when arranging your booking. For direct bookings, the remaining balance is paid in cash, in Moroccan dirhams (MAD), to Naima on the day of the excursion.

What are the cancellation and credit terms?

Cancel 8 days or more before the scheduled start for a full refund of the amounts paid. With less than 8 days but at least 48 hours’ notice, 50% of the amounts paid is refunded. There is no refund with less than 48 hours’ notice or for a no-show. Send cancellations in writing by WhatsApp or email. For cancellations less than 48 hours before the excursion, a change of date or credit may be offered on a case-by-case basis, subject to availability and agreement with us. An approved credit is valid for 12 months. Notice is measured from receipt of your written cancellation to the scheduled start of the excursion, using local time in Essaouira.

What happens if Essaouira Immersion cancels?

If Essaouira Immersion cancels your excursion, you can choose between a full refund of the amounts you have paid and rescheduling.
